Weekend in Durango

I know we’re in the middle of a duck story, but I wanted to share a couple of pictures from my trip to Durango this weekend for the opening reception of our two-person show at Sorrel Sky Gallery.  First, one of my favorite mesas on the Navajo reservation, along US-550. I’m not sure what it’s called, but isn’t it beautiful? (click to enlarge)

Here is the gallery on Main Street of cute little Durango, CO, a former railroad & mining town cir. 1881. Now it’s home to lots of winter sports, summer sports, and expensive real estate.

The gallery staff were all so accommodating and did a great job with the display. The gallery also carries paintings, bronze sculpture, and amazing artist-made jewelry.

Shiny, happy me.

    • Hey Guap, the show went great, thanks for asking! The reception was really well-attended and a few pieces sold. They will keep all the rest for the summer/winter seasons. Yeah, I feel lucky that I have enough people who support me and the things I make to allow me to do what I love for a living.

  1. Dear Laura, I am Ginger’s father in case you might wonder who is commenting. Ginger suggested your site and I am finding it a worthwhile subscription. I also have a blog although nothing as pleasant and appealing as Live Clay. I am always pleased to “meet” one of Gingers friends as everyone is a special find. Thanks for your work. Chuck

    • Hi Chuck, thank you so much for subscribing and for your kind comments about my blog! You have really made my day. I try to offer interesting/informative content and images, and it’s very satisfying to know that other people appreciate it. What is your blog? I would love to check it out.

    • I know. But a trip to Denver/Abq isn’t out of reach. I wish we’d had time to stop over on our way back from Nebraska… but one day soon, I hope!

  2. This is my first visit to your Space
and I have enjoyed this posting, an
    informative offering indeed 🙂

I am visiting you today from Red’s
Green Room. I hope that you have
had a fruitful Monday my friend 🙂

    • Hi Androgoth, thanks for stopping by! Red’s got a good blog, no? I can’t believe how much quality content she generates every day. Or at least every week. I’ll go check out your space now…

  3. I love coming by when you have new visitors! (Especially, when they are coming via my place!) Love your pictures from the trip. Sounds like you did well. You need to let me know if you get anywhere near my necks of the woods. Lunch is definitely a plan.
    Red.

  4. Hi Laura, Congratulations on your successful show. Is that also one of your paintings on the wall behind your display?
    Tina

    • Thank you! It seems like such a long time ago now, but it was only last month. No, that’s not my painting in the background but I really loved it. They have some nice landscapes in the gallery and it was a good pairing with my vases for the show.

Talk to me! I spend too much time alone in the studio.
